I did it today! Though, I found myself without my camera far more than I should have been on an offical "project" day! Sad...but I did get some details captured and I was working on only using my 85mm lens...my least favorite in my collection. I have started to develop a bit more of an appreciate for this lens, but still need to work with it more for it to prove worthy to travel with me on a shoot.
1. SJB and his blueberry breakfast.
2. the good morning rose.
3. NJB and his smoothie.
4. the neighbors insanely long grass.
5. the ugly louvered glass windows. they actually look decent at this exposure.
6. the smell of my back yard...it's amazing.
7. NJB's beans! they grow an inch a day.
8. costco.
9. my amazing sister and NJB working on kite flying.
10. SJB, worn out.

MAY is Photography Month!
my wonderful husband, an engineer of all things, mentioned that he saw that May was National Photography Month - I googled it quickly and he seems to be right! Thanks Alb! xo
So, in honor of Photography Month - I am challenging myself to break out of my chores, and snap more photos of my kids exploring the world!
01. MAY 2012 - we went to The Henry Ford (Tuesday Adventure Day!) and had a blast:

10 on 10 - April
from waking up (01)
to a simple dandelion gift that lived through the night (02)
to my morning breakfast (03)
to the way the light was hitting the plants on my porch (04)
to the magic spinning wheel thing at the park (05)
to kicking our heals up (06)
to monkey dancing in the sun (07)
to visiting the butterfly house (08)
to smelling the flowers (09)
and finally, to going to the zoo to be fascinated by the Canadian geese. (10)
wow - we had a really good day...and to top it off, Daddy came home from work early to join us at the zoo. :) And look at me - I did this on the day it was due...unlike March, which I will post shortly, with my explanation for it's extreme tardiness.

10 on 10 - March
Okay, okay - excuses, excuses - I missed March 10 - but that was because I was in Nebraska, or maybe it was Iowa and Illinois. In a car. Driving home from New Mexico...which was a LONG drive, but because of my amazing mom, the drive was much more exciting. Driving across the country with two young boys is an adventure in itself. (My brother was a rock star for the trip out, as he came with us)...anyway - I decided to do 10 highlights from 3 weeks of travel life instead, in no particular order:
huntzinger bowl - my favorite run in Taos Ski Valley, NM (01)
a classic shot of my traveling and shooting (02)
badlands. south dakota just after the morning dawn (03)
golden colorado railroad museum (04)
such class I share with my children (05)
jelly fish in denver, colorado (06)
took the brother to the state line (07)
me and my youngest on one of our morning mountain hikes - NM (08)
I love to gaze up - you never know what you'll find - NM (09)
my oldest and my love exploring the map for the next epic ski run (10)

family fun
what a day! the sun was shining, the lake was glistening, the kids were giggling, the families were together...if the bugs stayed away all would have been perfect! either way, I had the honor of photographing 6 fantastic kids and a few wonderful parents! Tons of photographer were captured and cannot wait to get into the playful playtime photos - the kids were captured in their element of play - until then, here are the more posed ones. Enjoy!!

Tyler is growing!
I seem to type the same thing over and over when I go and see a beautiful child that I had the honor of photographing early on in their life - and Tyler (and his big sister) is no exception! They change SO quickly!! He's a curious, sitting, nearly crawling adorable little boy who was such a joy to photograph at 7 months. He already has mastered the talent of capturing others hearts.

Lila is One!?
I LOVE year sessions - it is such a pleasure and a joy to see a little one go from birth through the first birthday - SO many changes happen in that first year, it is awesome to see the progression. Our year session took us to the Zoo for some fun and a few animals to see, but really - lots of flowers and a bit of nature to explore. Happy Birthday!! Enjoy the little year in a review here too, looking forward to making her book.

Keara is 2 and more fun!
I love documenting a birthday milestone...no matter when it is celebrated! Each stage of a life is so unique and inspiring. This awesome little girl is fantastic - she has some wonderful Irish Dancing moves that makes her (and those around) smile big! The sisterly love between the two is also precious. It was an honor to capture some moments here!

Preschool Photo Time!
Here we go again! This is our second season of capturing preschool and what a fun day we had! I love capturing the personalities of so many fantastic kids + their amazing teachers. Are you tired of the old blue back grounds that we all had for school photos or maybe those artificial larger than life crayons? Why not suggest our approach to your kid's preschool or daycare? Cannot wait for next year and to see the growth in these kids!

10 on 10...
Whew! I did take the photos, but with our travel adventures in February and into March, I am JUST now getting to posting the 10 on 10 for February 10, 2012:
1: SJB loves his tooth brushes
2. NJB has a new carseat and with that a new fort, hide out, play space (aka: a cardboard box)
3. SJB prefers bare feet - even in the winter.
4. NJB is a silly boy
5. an interesting texture @ the salvation army donation drop off
6. a very tired NJB after his valentines day party at school
7. NJB being silly, again.
8. best cookies ever: lime coconut sugar cookies.
9. SJB had a turn in the box.
10. afternoon art fun.
This was a pretty boring day in our world, but still, it was a fun and challenging to remember to grab the camera once an hour all day long. March will prove to be a challenge as I will be driving across the country on the 10th, but we will do our best! Stay tuned for the next 10 on 10.

Jenna is 1
I could not believe it when I got the note to come take Jenna's one year photos, the year had gone by so quickly - but it was so fun today to capture her and her big brother (and mom and dad too) for this time in her life! so close to standing on her own, she already has some great words (momma!) and is such a sweet little girl. Always and honor and a great time with this family! We even took our studio set up on the road, and had a great family session in the dining room. So fun. Thank you!

kewl art at kewl beans
what an honor it is to have my art hang on the wall at a place that has so much potential to shine behind it. today was fun, my oldest son and i had a date afternoon and spent a few hours at Kewl Beans Cafe in Warren, Michigan hanging several pieces on the freshly painted bold red wall!
here's the finished hanging...
and here are a few thumbnails of the pieces selected:
this is fun!
all prints are available for sale, and at the cafe, card prints are ready to go home with you, only $4.00 per card (3 for $10 or 4 for $12)
the prints on the wall are for sale too, print prices are at the cafe, so go on in - have a coffee and a treat or a sandwich and select which one you'd like to have at your home.
